Overview

I acquired this amp on a whim after hearing about PWE in an online forum. It’s a very uniquely voiced amp, somewhat in the modded Marshall territory but smoother, and more polished. These are ordered to spec, so my Event Horizon may differ from others, but this is the first version of the amp which has 2 channels, a footswitchable “blow” mode (essentially a second master volume), and quite a few unique controls that affect the feel and tone of the amp.

Starting with the front panel, both channels have a Hyperon control, which seems to affect the total amount of gain available while also changing the elasticity of the notes as you play. Next is the Tachyon control, which is a 4-way rotary bright switch that can be used to add extra cut to either channel. Of course, you also get your usual assortment of gain, treble, middle, bass, and level (volume). The gain channel also has a tiny switch between the gain and treble controls, switching that channel from more of a “crunch” mode to a more high gain sound. I far prefer it on the high gain setting. On the rear panel, there is a “Decelerator” which seems to be some kind of Variac-type function, it lowers the volume of the amp but not by too much, and also changes the feel of the amp drastically. In addition to the usual presence and deep controls, there is also a negative feedback control which can add a lot of punch to the amp especially for high gain sounds.

The wiring work internally is meticulous and shows the utmost in quality craftsmanship. This is a gorgeous amp inside and out, and backed up by amazing tones and customizability.
