1988 Jackson Limited Edition ‘88

Details

This very special looking model was made for Jackson Guitar’s 10th Anniversary. The finish, called “blue denim,” is smooth to the touch but visually looks textured - very cool. It has the factory pickups, a J50BC and J200 single coil, but mine is missing the stock JE-1000 active boost circuit - luckily I was able to find a replacement if I ever want to return it fully to stock condition, but it sounds great already. It also would’ve had a 5-way switch, but mine was replaced with a simpler 3-way setup. If I add back the JE-1000, which by default would be on all the time, I may wire back in the 5-way and try to set it up so that the boost is bypassed in certain positions - for example, 5-bridge with boost, 4-bridge no boost, etc. The neck is extremely smooth and fast, with a very light oil finish, “Limited Edition ‘88” inlay on the 12th fret, and the last few frets (19-24) are scalloped from the factory.

Fit and finish is absolutely superb, as expected for an instrument like this, and officially only 500 were made, although there seem to be a few “employee models” that slipped out in addition to that, although some of those have very slight differences.
