This Ibanez 540R “Radius” is equipped with the “Ultra” profile neck, which is substantially thicker and more classic feeling than the Wizard necks Ibanez is so well known for. Despite the larger profile, the fretboard radius is still very flat at 17” which makes setup and bends absolutely effortless, making this an excellent player. Radius series guitars at this time were equipped with solid black hardware as opposed to the Sabers which had cosmo black, which is a lighter color. Otherwise, the features are similar, with an Edge bridge and Dimarzio made OEM pickups. This one has had its bridge humbucker replaced with a more mainstream Dimarzio PAF Pro, which was a favorite pickup of Joe Satriani, who also preferred these Radius guitars, so that makes sense. That said, I wish I had the original IBZUSA humbucker, because I find those to be very good sounding in these guitars.
